Ramblings

I get itchy to post if my comments top 20 entries, so here are my random ramblings for the day.
1 - I loved conference. I made a resolution to pay better attention this time around. Six months ago we were in Tooele saying our last goodbyes to Grandpa Barlow during conference, so naturally we missed alot. Today was the first time I really heard president Monson talk as our prophet. My testimony is always so strengthened on conference weekend. It also helps that you can watch church in you pajamas with diet coke!
2 - Spending money is much more fun when it isn't yours. I've been heading up a major project here in our home owners association. We are getting new play equipment for the park, planting trees, installing benches, and creating a new play area. I'm learning so many things about the contractors world. I'm glad I have Michael to help me out so much with the landscaping, and with the technicalities of construction.

3 - I'm still torn on my opinion of the Twilight books. I've practically been nonexistent this week becasue I decided to re-read the Twilight series. I don't know about you, but once I get into a book, the laundry, dishes, housework, bills, etc. can wait! I love the story. I love the character development. But there is just something about the books that gets on my nerves. They are exceptionally mushy, but I don't think that's even it. I think it is that the attitudes of the characters are kind of narrow. Everybody talks the same way and seems to feel the same way. I can tell that all the dialog was written by one person. That having been said, I'm sure I'll drag my unsuspecting husband to the movie on opening night and enjoy every minute of it!

Well, I think I've rambled myself out. I have some cute pictures and videos to share, and I'm sure I'll get around to it in the next few days now that I'm done reading!

Glad to hear that you were able to enjoy conference!

Neat that you are getting new playground equipment. I hope that goes well!

As for twilight. I like the books. It does irritate me that they weren't proof read well. I have seen SO many mistakes that could have been caught in the editing room but weren't. Drives me crazy! I agree that the character attitudes are narrow.

I hope you have a good day today and enjoy the rest of conference!

Conference, lots of money, and a good book... sounds like a good post to me. Oh, I didn't see Ugly yesterday... is he... um... pushing daisies?

Yes, conference has been great! I don't read any books any more because I just don't like to read. I don't even watch tv anymore because it's just dumb. But I DO read bike magazines and I just read a 350 page bike training book, "Mountain Biker's Training Bible". It's awesome, there's a lot of new stuff I learned that didn't know about. Well, that'a all I read about, something bike related. I know, I admit it, I am the most obsessed bike person there is, at least I am not as bad as Lance Armstrong. Oh yeah, did I tell you Lance Armstrong is back to road racing again next year?

Andrea is really into the Twilight series. She hasn't had time to read the fourth one yet because she had her summer reading to finish and then she started school. I know we will see the movie as soon as it comes out. It is good to see you back on the blog scene. I gave some ideas about things to do in Durango on the Yap....check out the Strater Hotel website (I just googled it) it has some cool links for things to do including a Halloween ride on the Silverton train that sounds like LOADS of fun for everyone and it is a discounted price (probably because it doesn't go all the way to Silverton which is good because that is WAAYYY to long) The kids will even get a pumpkin which would be so much fun to take all the way back home to UT! ;)

Cool Karen! Now, what is this Twilight movie thing? I never heard of a book called Twilight and I never heard a movie called Twilight. Am I ancient or something? It's probably I don't watch tv and read books anymore. I am way out of this world. I have become Tony!

It is a series of books. Mom, Becky, Laura and Andrea have read them. The author is from Utah. The movie is coming out in October (I think) I haven't read them but I hear from EVERYONE that the series is awesome!
